Kenneth Nwafor, SIT's last student from the original 2019 class at the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS), just defended his master's thesis, the final step towards graduation. His graduation completes a 100% successful graduation rate of the original SIT Master's cohort.

Mauro Pezzè, SIT Chair of Software Testing and Analysis, together with colleagues Valerio Terragni, Gunnel Jahangirova and Paolo Tonella recently published, “GAssert: A Fully Automated Tool to Improve Assertion Oracles” in the proceedings of the 43rd International Conference on Software Engineering - the most prestigious academic event in software engineering since 1975.

On May 18, freshmen from the SIT Master program met with the Acronis executive team for an open student Q&A session. From September 21 to 28, 2019, SIT partnered with ICPC at the National University of Singapore (NUS). 71 students from Asia took part in a unique programming training camp, designed to help students learn advanced programming skills. The partnership complements SIT’s mission to lead the way in terms of higher technical education. The event was supported by SIT sponsor, Acronis.

In 2019, Swiss startup Qnami, founded in 2017, launched its Qnami ProteusQ™, the first commercial Scanning NV (Nitrogen-Vacancy) Magnetometer. This tool provides an innovative platform for analyzing magnetic materials at the nanoscale, playing a fundamental role in the future of both quantum computing and spintronics devices. The markets for Scanning NV microscopy in the cryogenic and spintronics design and manufacturing settings expand Qnami’s focus from research to industrial customers.

SIT and its two science-oriented projects, the Alemira Learning Management System and the team behind SIT Atlas Racing, attended the Acronis Global Cyber Summit 2019 — the world’s largest community gathering of cyber protection professionals. The two-and-a-half-day conference is committed to improving the protection of critical digital assets and systems.
