SIT Launches Its First SIT STAR Contest for Talented Students
In June 2020, a new research-led university, the Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT) launches its first SIT STAR Contest. The competition aims to promote interest in the field of Computer Science and Software Engineering. Students from EU/EFTA, Eastern Europe (including Russia), South Asia or Southeast Asia will have a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of programming. The best will receive fully or partially funded graduate scholarships for one of SIT’s Master’s programs.
The SIT STAR Contest is created for individuals who want to shape the future of science, research, and technology. The competition consists of several rounds and will be conducted on the Codeforces platform, the biggest community for programming contests. The SIT STAR Contest will include 8-12 problems of various levels of difficulty in algorithmic programming.
From 1st to 14th June 2020, students are invited for a practice round to familiarize themselves with the Codeforces platform. The main contest will take place on 17th June and will last for 4 hours. Top participants with the highest scores will be invited for the interviews with the professors from the Schaffhausen Institute of Technology. The winners will be announced in July.
The major prize is a scholarship with 100% tuition coverage for one of the Master’s programs offered by SIT. The number of scholarships will be decided based on the quality of the candidates. In addition to full grants, students have the opportunity to win partially funded scholarships and surprise gifts from Switzerland.
To be considered for the SIT STAR Scholarship, a student needs to have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any other STEM field, speak English fluently, and come from Eastern Europe (including Russia), South Asia or Southeast Asia.
