SIT Receives Strong Endorsement from Leading Scientists and the Canton of Schaffhausen

The Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT), an international research-led institution founded in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, with a mission to provide research, knowledge, and education, hosted its first annual Schaffhausen Insights in Technology conference in Schaffhausen. At the conference, SIT announced that the Cantonal Government of Schaffhausen is willing to support the next project steps of the SIT.

The process of establishing SIT has benefited greatly from broad community engagement. To support the promotion of innovative development in the Canton and to respond to the growing demand for ICT specialists, the Canton of Schaffhausen has decided to support the first project phase for the establishment of the SIT. The first stage should provide the necessary basis for a comprehensive assessment of the potential of the SIT development. According to the 2020 budget, the cantonal government plans to support the SIT project with a total of three million Swiss Francs over the next three years.

Christian Amsler, State Councillor of Department of Education of Schaffhausen, says: “Schaffhausen could strongly benefit from SIT's education, research, and innovation offering. It will provide the region with new experts in the field of information and communication technology, technology transfer between the university and the industry, and the establishment of start-ups from the SIT Tech Park”.

Chairman of the Board of the SIT, Dr. Serguei Beloussov, who is also the Founder and CEO of Acronis, a cyber protection company with dual headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and Singapore expressed his gratitude to the Canton for their pledge of support. “We are grateful and honored to receive the support from the Canton. To meet the global need for science and technology experts, we have assembled a team of world-class researchers and scientists to lead the school and provide research, knowledge, and education in the fields of software, physics, and digital transformation.
