Alemira acquires Dybuster AG

Zürich, 26th October 2021 - SIT Alemira acquires Dybuster AG, a Swiss developer of evidence-based, AI driven learning applications for schools, to make these applications known world-wide and enhance educational technology.

Dybuster, a former spin-off from ETH Zürich, will continue developing its applications in Zurich, an international IT hot spot, as it has done for the last 15 years. Dybuster is one of the most experienced and successful learning software developers in Switzerland, and close to 200’000 children have used its applications. The applications are available in many languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch, among others.

As part of SIT Alemira, Dybuster will extend its offer of scientifically proven applications for people with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia to cover the learning needs of all students. SIT Alemira develops specialized AI algorithms to enable guided deliberate practice. This will enable schools, educators, and parents to profit from Dybuster’s proven concepts for learners with difficulties, learners who do not require special attention, and gifted learners. What’s more, the combination of guided discovery and hands-on activity leads to more than 10x better understanding of the skills involved in the activity. Dybuster’s tools thus aim at becoming the first truly inclusive tools, covering the heterogeneous needs of entire classes, whereas existing applications do not support children with difficulties.

Additionally, SIT Alemira will help Dybuster extend its reach outside Switzerland, and the companies will combine their technologies and further develop them, with the goal to deliver the best possible education to children and young adults world-wide.

“Joining SIT Alemira is an outstanding opportunity for Dybuster”, explains Christian Vögeli, Dybuster’s co-founder, who will stay on as co-CEO. “For years, we have envisioned to support more children in acquiring essential skills, because we believe that every child has a right to learn, to dream and to seize opportunities. SIT Alemira’s network will bring us closer to this vision by extending both the geographies, which we can reach, as well as the content and subjects we can provide, while at the same time improving our technologies. ”

“Learning journey personalization, enhanced tutoring, interactivity, and learning by doing should be readily available to everyone. With SIT Alemira, we are creating a next-gen learning environment that is active, adaptive, collaborative, and readily suits everyone’s needs, and with Dybuster, we are inspired to enhance our technology and to extend our offer of scientifically proven applications to school age children and their acquisition of fundamental skills”, says Laurent Dedenis, CEO of SIT Alemira.
